Gnome install Manual

During my previous installation...i just installed xwindows without gnome or kde....how do i can install gnome with just selected file in my cd installation? or is there other way for me to install gnome without effecting my current system?

forgot to add...im using fedora core 4

login as root ( I'm assuming you can get into init 3 - text mode multiuser runlevel) and :
-make sure to mount CD-ROM with Fedora Core 4 install CD1 inserted in drive-tray.
-type this:         yum  -y   groupinstall   gnome
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If there's no yum ( YellowDog Update Manager) install , you have to locate yum rpm file
and install it first.
