what I would do, is on load loop through all the literals controls on the page with Javascript.  Conditional attach events, for example

answer to your question 2

window.onload = function()
for(var i = 0; i< document.getElmentsByTagName("input").length;i++)
if(document.getElmentsByTagName("input")[i].type =="input")
document.getElmentsByTagName("input")[i].onblur = function()
document.getElmentsByTagName("input")[i].value = "Blurred";

For question 1, how will you want to reference these textboxes, will you provide unique addressing for them?
