Show the rectangular dashed or dotted line within a CButton

I have a CDialog that contains several buttons.  There is no problem with assigning focus, and the buttons all work properly except that the button that has the original focus does not contain the rectangle within the button.  If I TAB to other buttons, they have the rectangle, and if I tab through the control, the original button now has the rectangle.

I've tried BS_DEFPUSHBUTTON, and I've tried setting the focus elsewhere, and using CDialog::NextDlgCtrl().  The focus is in the right place, but the rectangle is still missing.

What am I missing?

Thanks in advance, Rick

I've also tried SendMessage(this->m_hWnd,WM_KEYDOWN,VK_TAB,0), and the message isn't even seen by PreTranslateMessage() whether I send it from OnInitDialog or PreSubclassWindow().

Any insight will be greatly appreciated.

Have a look at DrawFocusRect()

The DrawFocusRect function draws a rectangle in the style used to indicate that the rectangle has the focus.

Try to set focus programmatically in OnInitDialog:

GoToDlgCtrl(&m_button1);
