Linked server data source - using a remote csv file

Hi experts,

I can get a linked server working fine with a local csv file - but when i try to change it to a unc path for example:

Data source: \\servername\c$\csvfiles

...it just can't see the csv's - has anyone out there done this before - is it possible?

many thanks,
Microsoft SQL Server

check MSSQLSERVER service logon account - make sure it is NT domain user with admin rights on the "servername" - or create share folder with NTFS permissions

Check if the user Login to sql server and the user specified in sql service and agent account have access on that location.

Try Creating a map drive on your server.
