Hi, Nick
Please post your script and output log.
You may need to specify a domain when logging into the PC.

Hi Nick,

Ave you checked the acces rights of the Login user on your PC?

Hi Nick,

I've had similar problems so often that I gave up. I now always FTP from the PC to the AS/400 (rather than the other way around).

It works beautifully every time.

Assuming all setup/configuration is correct for what you want to do, this ought to work fine. There are numerous possibilities any time one system needs to do a network connection to another. Barry's first request is the place to start. We need to see just a copy/paste of an ftp attempt from your AS/400 command line.

The opening banner and the sequence leading to the 530 message will be helpful. This will help determine at what point things are going wrong and possibly eliminate numerous blind alleys.

Where is user pateln defined? Is it a network user or a local PC user? If the login failed from the PC, it would seem that the most likely cause is an incorrect password. Perhaps upper-/lower-case issues.

Also, what exactly is "a ftp share with permissons"?

Hi, Nick

Did you try supplying a domain to the FTP server?
When prompted for user, put in MYDOMAIN\pateln where MYDOMAIN is the domain of the FTP server.
