(500pts) Exchange 2003 server OWA page cannot be displayed -fresh install-

Exchange 2003 server OWA page cannot be displayed, fresh install. When I do htttp://domainname.com/exchagne I get the 404 page cannot be displayed errors. Even when I browse the Exchange web site through IIS i still get the 404 page cannot be displayed error.

Background:

I am trying to set up OWA with exchange 2003. This is a brand new install, not an upgrade. I did /forestprep --> /domainprep --> then regular setup. (This is a brand new forest)

I am using the exchange SMTP connector, and I have a separate front end server. My front end server is also my web server, and all my web sites are up and running. So I am stuck :(

I did install exchange on the front end server and checked the box to make it a front end server. I tried re-running setup, but had no luck. When I do http://domainname.com/exchagne I get the 404 page cannot be displayed errors.

So I have 2 exchange servers now. 1) front end and 1) Exchange.

SMTP mail is sending and receiving.

Time to enact Simon's rule of fresh installs.
If it doesn't work straight out of the box, then it is a bad build. I don't even bother to troubleshoot. Exchange is removed using add/remove programs, the dropped out of the domain, wiped and rebuilt.
Fresh builds should not play up immediately so that indicates there was a problem.

If it happens a second time, I will do it for a third. If it happens a third then something outside is causing the problem.

Simon.

ASKER

Would you re-install the back end and the Front end server? I am guessing by your comnment about dropped out of the domain, that you mean completley cleaned out of AD?
