DNS Registration of Solaris into Windows DNS

Hi Experts,

I am completely new to Solaris.

I need to register FQDN DNS name for Solaris system into Microsoft windows DNS running on windows 2003.

What command or steps do I run?

I created a forward lookup zone in DNS called mydomain.local and I want my solaris system to be called "solaris1" so I want to setup Solaris so that it registers the DNS address solaris1 into mydomain.local zone. So that we can access the solaris system using solaris1.mydomain.local

Thanks

thanks

but How do I set the hostname and DNS Suffix for solaris host?
Did you specify the hostname when you installed Solaris?

If not, you'll need to edit

/etc/hosts
/etc/hostname.xxx (where xxx is the name of your network card)
/etc/nodename
/etc/inet/ipnodes

or are you asking, how to set the default DNS lookup to append a domain?  If so, add

search mydomain.local

to /etc/resolv.conf
