CD Rom DIsppearing
Hello, I have a client that has a cdrom that is disapearing throughout the day. He can reboot and it reappears, but that is getting old. The op sys is xp home. I have installed a new drive about 3 months ago and the original drive was bad. I have reconnected the cables and switched the power connection. The driver is up to date. Any ideas?

Check for the presence of "upper and lower filters" in the registry, which can cause optical drives to disappear: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;314060
