Cannot open SharedDocs on Dell Optiplex GX620 from network - can open SharedDocs on other PC on network

Hello,

This is an update to the the question (see below).

I now have one network (GraceEpiscopal) and one workgroup (GRACECHURCH) with two computers (Dell Optiplex GX620 [GRACEOFFICE] - ETHERNET TO Netopia 3300 series modem/router) and Sony VAIO [TopQuark] - WEP wireless to modem/router.

I have run Network Setup Wizard and Wireless Network Setup Wizard serveral times on each PC.

From Each PC, using My Network Places (or Windows Explorer), I can see the workgroup [GRACECHURCH] - then is, I don't get ..not accessible... warnings - but I cannot see any open any shared documents (SharedDocs) on the Dell Optiplex GX620. I have several times set allowed sharing. I can open shared documents on the laptop from the Dell Optiplex using Microsoft Windows Network: [GRACECHURCH] workgroup.

I have setup several networks before, but never with a Dell Optiplex GX620 having this problem. I can open shared documents on the laptop from the Dell Optiplex using Microsoft Windows Network: Gracechurch.

** I could sure use some help!! **

Thanks, Jim

have set up a Dell Optiplex GX620 Pentium D 820/2.8GHz with WIN XP Pro SP2 and Norton Internet Security 2006 pre-installed. Included in the setup is a Netopia NWG (3300 series) DSL modem/router with wireless access.

I have setup a network with wireless access from my laptop to the Dell Optiplex. I am able to access the internet from both laptop and Dell Optiplex. From each PC I can see the other on the network. I have disabled the WIN XP firewall in favor of the Norton Personal firewall. I have enabled all necessary protocols in Norton and allowed access to IP addresses 192.168.1.1 --> 192.168.1.254 on both PCs. I have setup file sharing (SharedDocs) on both PCs. The laptop has Norton Internet Security 2005 (full installation from purchased software).

I can open shared documents on the laptop from the Dell Optiplex using Microsoft Windows Network: Gracechurch.

My problem is using Dell Optiplex windows Explorer. I cannot see or open any shared documents (SharedDocs) on the Dell Optiplex using Microsoft Windows Network: Gracechurch. Likwise I cannot I cannot see or open any shared documents (SharedDocs) on the Dell Optiplex from the laptop. This is also true with Norton Personal firewall off.

I tried sharing other folders (Sharing and Security...) on the Dell Optiplex with still no access. Permissions set to everyone.

I noticed the Shared Documents Properties windows on the Dell Optiplex differs from the laptop which has a full licensed WIN XP Pro SP2 installation - concerns here?

How do I access Dell Optiplex from Microsoft Windows Network: Gracechurch?

How can I delete Microsoft Windows Network: Graceparistn (not used) if I want to remove all traces of the network?

Thanks for any help.
