I have dupelicate DNS entrys on my network - laptops + standby may be the issue
I have alot of laptops on my network, and people who travel out of the office alot. Workers could be out of the office for weeks at a time.
I beleve what is going on is that laptops are asking for addresses, going into standby and not releasing the address.
As far as i can tell there are not dupe IPs being given out aat the same time.
User1 requests an address (10.10.102.2). User1 puts the laptop in standby mode. leaves the network (standby does not release address) and stays off the network for 30 days. The lease expires but is not removed from DNS. Next user2 requests an address (10.10.102.2) and gets added to DNS.
So in DNS i will have foward dns entries with 5 diff computer names all with the same IP address listed in DNS.
DNS scavaging is enabled but is not helping, has anyone seen this prolem?
