manual install of Virtual USB printer port on xp pro for Terminal Services printing?
I have tried to search for an answer but have found none here and on google.
I am trying to install an HP laserjet 1320, on a Dell Inspiron E1505 notebook running Windows XP Pro.  I need to install thi  on a Virtual USB port.
However, every time I try to install it will only install on a Dot4 USB port. ( Let me add that I do not have the install CD, I am downloading the drivers from the HP website.)
The printer will work on the Dot4 port for programs installed on laptop but it will NOTwork to print through Terminal Services, thus the need to install on the Virtual USB port.
How do I force the printer to install on a Virtual USB port?  It isn't even a choice  for ports through the add printer wizard.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

OK, I tried the above and that did not work because that particular laptop is using Remote Desktop to get into the server (instead of the TS software).  So, there isn't any registry key for TS.
I also tried uninstalling everything and using the install CD (that I finally got hold of)....no luck.  So I am upping the points on this one.
I do remember, during the initial install (many, many tries ago) a pop up window appearing, asking me, something like, do I want Dot4 or USB support.  And being in a hurry, I mistakenly chose Dot4!  And now that window will not pop up again.

I have tried the DOS command for persistant printing, I have even went so far as doing a restore to an early point (to hopefully erase everything) but the printer will only install on a Dot4 USB port.....not a Virtual USB port.  And again, the Virtual USB port is not even a choice during a manual install.
Any ideas out there???

Matrix....My sincerest apologies!  What you suggested from the start DID work!  I don't know why I couldnt find the registry key the first time around, probably rushing way too much! (I cover 18 branches).

But I tried it again and it does work and she can now print.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

Microsoft Windows XP is the sixth release of the NT series of operating systems, and was the first to be marketed in a variety of editions: XP Home and XP Professional, designed for business and power users. The advanced features in XP Professional are generally disabled in Home Edition, but are there and can be activated. There were two 64-bit editions, an embedded edition and a tablet edition.
