extended monitor as primary

I have may primary moniter -almost can't see any thing now- for a compaq tablet with win xp pro.
I need to make my extended monitor as the primary!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have tried from display to not extend and some other options, but it won't let me uncheck the moniter no. 1 from primary and select the 2 monitor as primary instead of secondary. all my windows open on the faded primary monitor that attached to the computer and since I can't see it I need to drag it.

how can I make my 2 monitor the primary where I can see start and destop??

Have you tried either doing this with the primary monitor off (lid shut) or switching teh primary display off with the FN + F4 (or whatever function key it is), then going to display properties and setting it? It should see the external one and can right click it and select primary. BUT, I believe that when the laptop is tunred on it will default to the internal...

I would not do anything with FN + F5.

How do you switch to clone mode?

Usually the FN + HOTKEY would give you clone mode, or turn internal monitor off and push the display out the secondary. But I am guessing it didnt help?

Usually press it once to switch, then a second time to go to the next mode, and then either again for the next mode etc...Eventually it will cycle back to normal..

What about teh NVidia Desktop? There should be some profiles in there that you could create to specify this setting?
