JS/Kak infections in oe email xp home

I have a customer that has a compaq computer xp home etc.
with 2900+ emails in outlook express  [dates range from 2000 to current]
evidently the email was imported into this computer from earlier one, this computer is 3 years old+-
and xp was updated.   I was called in to put nod32 and antispyware on office computers [10]
started with the owners machine and stunned with more than 400 infected emails from 2000-2001  JS/Kak.
now this is an accounting firm dealing primarily with taxes.  most of the email seems to be tax related
how to clean this without losing the email
need help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111

Are teh infected legitimate emails, or randomly generated ones, like most commonly seen...

the emails a legitmate
I ran dbx extract on a separate copy of a test batch of emails and it extraced them but the antivirus program just deleted them.
I started with Experts Exchange in 2004 and it's been a mainstay of my professional computing life since. It helped me launch a career as a programmer / Oracle data analyst
