Can't find Email Address

A user in our company deleted a Public Folder that had an email address associated with it. I recovered the folder but when I tried to add the email address back to the Public Folder it said that it already exists. I performed a search in AD and found both the Public Folder I recovered that has the original email address emailaddress2@domain.com as well as the original email emailaddress@domain.com. I cannot find the email address though to delete it and then reassociate it with the folder that I recovered. Thanks
