Spell check result in pop-up: "Cannot find proofing tools for German (Germany"

Hello Experts,

when clicking on the spell checker, I often get the following error message/warning:  "Cannot find proofing tools for German (Germany).  If you have the proofing tools, try installing or re-installing them...."

What is this for?   How can I disable/enable it?

Thanks,
Tom

She may have automatic language detection turned on. Try this:

With a blank document open:  Tools > Language > Set language

Uncheck the box before "Detect language automatically". Click on "OK". Save and close the document. Exit and restart Word. Open a new blank document and check that the option is turned off before continuing.

callrs,

thanks so much for the info... your recommendation makes sense.   So far, the message hasn't popped up yet.   Guess it works better now.

Again, thanks!

I "spoke" too quickly... that darn proofing tool still pops up on any existing document.   8(

The "Detect language automatically" is NOT enabled on the existing document.

Callrs,

thanks... it's alright though... no need to "recall" any points.
