Set a session key based on Drop down list selection [C# ASP.NET 2005]

Hi, I'm trying to transfer Session Variables from ASPX to ASPX
by setting a session key value 'Site' to a value selected from a drop down list.

I'm using the following snippet:
Session["Site"] = this.uiSiteDDL.SelectedValue;
Response.Write(Session["Site"]);

But it is setting the value Site to the first or default value in the list rather than the one I select..
Any ideas?
Thx

I think from the selection itself..

protected void OnSelectSite(object sender, EventArgs e)
    {
        Session["Site"] = this.uiSiteDDL.SelectedValue;
        Response.Write(Session["Site"]);
        //Response.Redirect("SiteView.aspx");
    }

Thx ..yes..needed to do it from SelectedIndexChanged !!

protected void DropDownList1_SelectedIndexChanged(object sender, EventArgs e)
    {
        Response.Write (DropDownList1.SelectedValue);
        Session["Site"] = DropDownList1.SelectedValue;
