Exchange Users Cannot Recieve Emails When "Allow Anonymous Access" Is unchecked

I have a really wierd problem. I have been setting up an exchange server and have got everything up and running but for some reason when I uncheck "allow anonymous acces" nobody can recieve email. When it is checked though there I get thousands of emails being sent out an hour by spam bots. Is there a solution to this. I have checked "allow only authenticated users to relay" but that doestn seem to help

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Hi athcon,

I will assume you are talking about the SMTP service.

This should be set to allow anonymous, that is not the problem here.

Have a look at this from Sembee ->

Hope that helps,
