How can I be sure WUS is working

HI,

I have installed WUS on several servers on different sites.

I have followed all the MS recommended install procedures and set the group policy for live updates of the WUS server however it appears that client computers are still downloading from the internet.

How can I test and be sure that WSUS is working OK.

Thanks,

Andrew

There is a link button along the top of the WSUS admin page called computers.  Default address is http://"WSUS-Server-Name/WSUSadmin  Click on it and the page will show the computers that have checked in with the WSUS server!

You can click on the status tab in the bottom pane and view the status of all updates that have been downloaded by the WSUS server and wether they are installed on that machine, are still needed or don't apply!

Make sure your clients are actually updating.  If you haven't already, run:

gpupdate /force
gpresult

To verify that your Group Policy is applying to the individual clients.

Check yer Windows directory for WindowsUpdate.log on the clients and be sure there are no errors there.

Bull's suggestion is the easiest way to check.  Any of the ones you don't see there are likely not using your WSUS server.

Andrew,

Did the information above help?
