Error in Outlook Express

Hi,

I'm having trouble with my Windows Address Book. I run Windows XP SP2 on P4 1.6 GHz, 384 MB RAM. I use Sony Ericsson PC Suite to back up the contacts data on my Sony Ericsson W550i to the Windows Address Book. Today after a synchronization completed the report showed that some contacts has failed to update, though others had been updated. After this, it has become impossible to either synchronize with the Address Book or open it.

Trying to open Address Book results in the error message "An error occured while attempting to open the Address Book file." Outlook Express is the only synchronizable application I've installed, so currently it has become impossible for me to back up my contacts data. Other operations such as file transfer remain unaffected. What should I do?

Do a search on your PC for your Address book. OE PROFILENAME.wab
Pretty sure it is .
C:\Documents and Settings\JBlanke\Application Data\Microsoft\Address Book\
or
C:\Documents and Settings\JBlanke\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Address Book

Anyway, once you find it, double click on it and see if it opens. Taht will tell you if it is corrupted or not. And if it opens, then under File, Export>See if you can expotr a backup of it....

Then once you haev a backupof it (just copy it somewhere, I would look at uninstalling/reinstalling the Synch software.

Under C:\Documents and Settings\JBlanke\Application Data\Microsoft\Address Book\, I found both the .wab file that refuses to open and a .wab~ file that appeared to be a back up. I renamed it to .wab, which brought back Address Book to normal functionality. But synching again creates the same error. I will try reinstalling the application.
