Flash movies question.

I'm creating a website where I will need for the user to upload a movie, and it will need to be converted to flash video.
So I would like to know if any one here has done something like that. The movie it will be an .AVI or MPG movie.

Any linke with some information or books it will be great, and if there is a solution out there that does it can help too.

The software to use is Mencoder (http://www.mplayerhq.hu)

For Windows:

To use mencoder the best is to download and Install this software (free):

SUPER << http://www.erightsoft.net/Superdc.html

Mencoder is located in SUPER installation folder (Program Files\SUPER\mencoder\)

Commandline:

mencoder input.avi -o output.flv -of lavf -oac mp3lame -lameopts abr:br=56 -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=flv:vbitrate=500:mbd=2:mv0:trell:v4mv:cbp:last_pred=3 -srate 22050

You can convert the video programatically with this utility.
