.NET Runtime version 2.0.50727.42 - Fatal Execution Engine Error

This message keeps appearing in my event log whenever my .Net app falls over:

NET Runtime version 2.0.50727.42 - Fatal Execution Engine Error
(7A05E2B3) (80131506)

Has anybody else encountered this specific error - other threads I have encountered seem to link the problem to an issue with the .Net 2.0 framework

We had a similar problem:

NET Runtime version 2.0.50727.42 - Fatal Execution Engine Error (7A05E2B3) (80131506) and Faulting application w3wp.exe, version 6.0.3790.1830, stamp 42435be1, faulting module mscorwks.dll, version 2.0.50727.42, stamp 4333e7ec, debug? 0, fault address 0x000e9f96.

...which was fixed with a .NET 2.0 hotfix:

If you want the hotfix, you'll need to call Microsoft and reference the KB article above.

Thanks for the suggestion SweatCoder. I have now obtained the Microsoft hotfix, I will apply it to the machines running my app. It may take a few days to establish whether or not it has fixed the issue I described, I will post back in this thread as soon as I am certain one way or the other.

The hotfix seems to have cured my crashing issues, thanks for your help SweatCoder!

Hopefully Microsoft will either release a .Net service pack containing this fix, or make the hotfix more widely available - it certainly worked for me.
