repair

any time i wake up my laptop from standby/hibernations, i fail to reconnect to my wifi. i click on repair but windows fail to do it. inevitably i reboot. i've winxp home sp2 on vaio with 1gig mem, 100gig hd. please help. thanks.

Make sure your WiFi card is ACPI compliant.  ACPI power features may have to be enabled for the card in Device Manager.

Update WiFi drivers too.  There may have been a windows patch that broke the drivers.

i've a built-in wifi and don't know how to configure acpi feature for that. drivers are updated.

Will it reconnect after waking up from sleep if you disable and re-enable the card?

Most laptops have a hotkey sequence (usually Function (Fn) + one of the F keys.) to disable/enable the radio

no. the unit has an off/on switch but has no effect after wakeup.
