Hi,

I have just begun reading a Citrix training manual with the hope to complete my CCA in Citrix Pres Svr 4. I have a license for Access Suite 4 which will go through to Jan 07 but I was wondering if anyone had any siggestions for how to configure my lab for a more real world hands on training environment. After that I will hopefully be able to move into our production Citrix farms here at work.

I have access to two lab boxes and VmWare. Any siggestions welcome.

Thanks in advance.

VM's would work well for a lab envionment although for a small test environment you won't need many separate servers since many citrix components can be installed together.

I would recommend installing Citrix Presentation Server & the Licensing server all on the same server.  Make this server also hold your Data Store unless you are planning on using SQL Server or Oracle in production.  In that case I would set up a separate DB server to learn about that.

I would also suggest having another server to setup Citrix Web Interface & Secure Gateway.  These 2 components can be installed on the same server but for real world environments wouldn't go on the same server as your Presentation Server.

So you can pretty much test everything with 2 servers:

1. Presentation Server / License Server
2. Citrix Web Interface / Secure Gateway

Add more Presentation Servers to your farm using VM's to get a feeling for that and how the farm settings are configured for multiple servers.
