sonicwall pro 2040 port forwarding & access rules

Hello experts,

I need to migrate a firewall from linksys to sonicwall pro 2040. I havent worked with any kind of firewall before. so please dont mind if this is a very basic question. We got a sonicwall pro 2040 with SonicOS Standard 3.1.0.7-77s. Now this is the problem...

in linksys firewall, there are seperate options for port forwarding and access rules.

under port forwarding, the entry is like this..... ssh [TCP/22~22] -> 192.168.178.30

under access rules , the entry for ssh is like this...

priority    enable   action   service    source-interface   source    destination    time
--------   ---------  -------   --------    -------------------  --------    -------------   -------
6            yes        allow    ssh[22]           *                    ANY     ANY             ALWAYS

Now i need to transform the same thing to sonicwall pro 2040.. i have posted a similar question before but not with these details, i got this solution which looks like it should work..

If you are running standard, it is very easy. Goto firewalls..access rules and click add.

Click Allow
Choose SSH
Leave Source alone
Choose destination as LAN and type 192.168.172.30 in the address field.
Click OK

I just wanted to know if this one does both the things that are done seperately in linksys router in one step on sonicwall pro or am i missing somethng?

thanks

Vamsi,

Take a look at my profile and send it to me. It is not good practice to post live production data on the web, especially for your firewall.

I will be happy to answer all the questions I can. The SonicOS Standard is pretty straight forward, much like the linksys, but has much more capability.
