best way to restore a mailbox Exchange 2000

I have a user that thinks she sent an email to someone in the timeframe of August 15 to October 1st 2005.  She wants me to search the backup tapes for a particular email address and tell me if she sent the email.  Is there anyway of doing this?  I use Veritas Backup Exec 10.  The user wants the email for a lawsuit, so it is important.

Any help as soon as possible is appreciated.

I have restored mailboxes in the past, but not just one email... if it even exists.

Phewww , that is a long timeframe.
Depends on how much does that lawsuit cost and if it is not just something she wants for fun.
How often do you keep the exchange logs and how long do you keep the smtp logs ?
Might be a better iddea to look first in the logs for that e-mail and see if it exists as you say then think about a restore.

You would need a separate machine just to restore the exchange and have a running exchange with same settings as you have in your domain.
Then you can restore the exchange on that machine and start searching for the e-mail.

Let me tell you from the start it is a pretty painfull job if you have to search in such a big timeframe.
