First off, you shouldnt be running Exchange on a DC ever except in a lab.

That aside, http://www.windowsitpro.com/Article/ArticleID/41170/41170.html will help you get your feet wet with an authoritative restore of AD or the plain jane AD restore at http://www.windowsitpro.com/Article/ArticleID/13384/13384.html.

http://www.petri.co.il/restore_exchange_2000_2003_with_ntbackup.htm
is a good walkthrough I have had to do before.

Be patient too and expect problems, but it's doable :-)

this procedure doesnt work as when i restore the AD it just stop our keyboard and mouse, so i installed the windows 2003 server and adding users on to it manually. is it okay or should i have to check for any other things.
