How to configure domain controller

Hi I have Windows 2000 server and want to confgure it as domain controller please help with steps and also i have a backup of AD which i want to restore so that i dont have to create the users again , is it possbie.

if you have a backup and the domain name is going to be the same, why not run the restore for it? to promote the server to a DC run dcpromo from the run line and it will launch the wizard and walk you through it. Also, there is the directory restore mode to do a AD restore. Hope that helps.
