System State and Exchange backup options grayed out when selecting custom backup

Hello, I am trying to back up Exchange Server 2003 on a system I am unfamiliar with. For some reason the System State and the Exchange check boxes are grayed out and unavailable. I am logged in as administrator. Does any one know what could be causing this?
Thanks, Jacob

What are you trying to backup with?
NTBACKUP, Veritas, something else?

I am trying to back up with Windows Backup utility program provided with windows server 2003.

Jacob
The only time I have seen that is when you don't have permissions. Are you logged in as the administrator? Have you attempted to change the permissions that this process runs under?

Simon.
Sorry I never got back to this topic. I found an answer to my question in Mastering windows server 2003 published by Sybex. The problem was you cannot select the entire tree but must first drill down and select the specific folders you wish to back up.
