Hello All,

I have a question about the Intelligent Mail Filtering system built into Exchange 2003. I have it up and running and it is working great, a little too good in fact.

I use a "MSExchange.UseContenFilter.xml" file to filter all mail that our Trend Filter labels as "Spam:". What I would like to do is turn all but the XML filter off in IMF. Can this be done? I already have it set on the lowest setting.

The reason for this is INF will not let me white list but trend will.

Thanks All
Eric

Maybe an easier way would be to recommend some good 3rd party app that will allow me to white list. I know this sounds crazy but I fear it will have to be OpenSource not a pay per license product.

Thanks

There is very little control over IMF - a few suspect work arounds, but nothing really supported by Microsoft.

If your Trend product is flagging the messages as spam, then you should look around for an event sink that can move those messages for you in Exchange.

As for alternative products, I am not aware of anything in the Exchange arena. There are a number of open source antispam applications, but these sit outside of Exchange and if you are passing the messages to the server you will still have the problem of sorting the messages.
