503 5.5.1 Incorrect command sequence

Hi
Our Outlook Clients are getting quite a few of the error message below in the last couple of days.  When we open the Undelivered report, there is a "Send Again" button that seems to know that there was a problem that can be corrected.  If we "Send Again" the message appears to get delivered successfully.   We are using Exch 5.5 and I don't see any error messages on the server yet.
Does anyone know what I can check on the server to get to the source of this issue?
Thanks if you can help.  I'm still searching for the answer.

Sorry for abandoning this series.  I did not figure out why that was happening, but since I was forwarding all mail from our exhchange server to a mail relay server that had Merak anti-spam mail services running on it, I started forwarding directly to the internet using DNS.  That appears to be the difference.  We were getting a huge amount of spam coming into the anti-spam server, so perhaps it was simply overloaded at times.  Since we were getting 21,000 spam emails per day, we signed up for an offsite fitering service through Postini.com.  They block 99% of the spam, so it never even gets to our initial firewall and our internet connection is much cleaner now.
