Hi there guys,
I Have an email server setup on  a windoes 2003 server called Mdaemon Pro For Windows, i connect to the internet through a ipcop box.
The Problem that i am having is that in the last two week we have noticed that any email that is been sent will get to the person with no data in the email or a from address listed, as far as i know i havbt changed anything on the server or the ipcop.  I have check the smtp out to see if the mail is been sent and then on another server i have checked the SMpt (in) to see if it is comming in correctly as far as i can tell it is all working fine. if someone could please tell me if there is anything else i should be looking at

Watch Question

Before the user collects the mail:  In Mdaemon, pull down the Queues menu, choose Queue & Statistics Manager, Users, and select the User you weant to look at.  You will see the number of messages queued up ready to be brought into the User's inbox.  Choose a message by double-clicking on it.  Is there a message there?  It will be in Raw format, but you should be able to tell if there's substance to the message - try and pick a message that has been sent in plain-text format, rather than one with HTML in it.  (If necessary, send a test message).

If you are seeing the message there, but not when the user draws it down from Mdaemon then there are a few things this could be: (1) a problem with your email client.  What email program are you using?  (2) It could be the firewall/antivirus program identifying the message as dangerous and stripping out the guts from the message.  Usually if this happens the AV/Firewall program will stick an "attachment removed" indicator into the message.

If the message is not complete even within Mdaemon, it may be that Mdaemon is stripping out the message content, which could be for a number of reasons, but this is not standard behaviour.

Let us know your findings so that further help can be given.

ok i have done i check the top is what i get when a message come through correct on one of my mail servers that is working;

As a test, try knocking off the Spam filtering in Security, Spam Filter, Heuristics.  Does this then deliver the message?

If it does, then it looks as if Spam Assassin is not dealing with the message in the correct way.
Also, what virus checker are you using on the pc?  Try disabling this temporarily as a test.  (Usual warning about being aware of the consequences of disabling AV software).

OK i have tried to turn off the spam filter there is no change, all the email that i send out through that mail server is still getting to the person blank, but any email that get send in through the mail server are getting to me and the rest of the staff with no problem, i have turned the virus checker off as well and no difference

i have also checked the out going information in the Queue and there appears to be a message there but when it get to the other end (i have two mail server that i am able to test with) there is nothin in the message when i go in to the queue

Also all internal email are working with no problems, this is leading me to belive that it could be the ipcop removing the guts of the message for some reason

Yes, that could well screw things up, try turning that off

there has been no problem with it for the past two years that i hae had it setup going through the ipcop it only started last week and it isnt that easy just to turn the ipcop of the internet is connect throught the ipcop

I have fixed the problem by turning off the spam filters in the IPcop, i have no idea why this started stopping the email going out, but that is another problem i eill look later
Does IPcop download updates in the background to keep itself up-to-date?  If so then there probably is the reason for it breaking.

Can IPcop be configured to scan only incoming email for Spam?  There is only one reason to scan outgoing email for Spam and that is there is a lack of confidence in either your system (it must have become infected for it to send out Spam), or your users doing dodgy things sending out Spam.

it wa set up like that because of some of the old users but i have now set up the other way so it is workin ine now , and yes there is an auto update so that is what happendit addd some new rule, now because you didnt solve my problem i will want to give you come points but i thik 500 is to much is there a way that i can just gie you 100
You reduce the points awarded by giving a lower grade.  Grade A is where the question was answered completely, Grade B or C is where you wish to grant points but the answer was not so satisfactory.
