can not recieve attachmend lareger than 2 MB from any external domain

Hi

I'm facing a little wierd problem here i'm renning MS Exchange w2k3 SP2 back-end front end topology and my problem is when i try to send (gmail ,hotmail, etc ) i recived an NDR

Final-Recipient: rfc822;username@mydomain
Action: failed
Status: 5.2.3
X-Display-Name: display name

internally every thing is ok

i've review my FE SMTP  Attachment limits and it's ok limits are greater than 2MB also i 've checked with the smart host if there is any restrictions and they confirmed there is'nt

now i'm all the users can recieve enternally attachment grater than 2 MB witout any problems but externally they can't

Hi AGhanem,

There are a stack of places to change the limits - as listed here -> http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/Set-Size-Limits-Messages.html

Now, as you are only having the problem externally, I would start looking at the SMTP server

actually i've review all my SMTP sitting and it seems ok

and still has the same problem

Try changing the setting from what it is to something else, like 10240 (10mb)

You will need to restart the exchange services for it to take effect.

Review that guide anyway and make sure there is no other setting that you are missing

i've tried this out and no worth also i have set an explicit limits on a test mail box and didn't work too it's very wierd problem  and i'm still digging without luck

Sorry, you tried what out?

Also, is there anything else between your exchange server and the router?

have you tried sending to the exchange server from an external source besides gmail or hotmail?

tried changing the sittings from what it is to something  and restart the SMTP vertual server

theere is a cisco PIX firewall between my back end server and the front end server (SMTP server) and another cisco pix between my front end and the internet cloud

i've tried yahoo and it's not working i'll try another domain and will keep you posted

OK, if you have tried changing the virtual server configuration, that is one part.  Review the rest of that guide and change all of the limits to 10MB - then restart ALL exchange services.

It has no choice but to work then, at which point we will tighten it up

Tried every single part mentiond in the guide actually i 've spent all day long changinging the settings and test the results without luck it start to be boring as i'm trying to trouble shoot every single setting in my setup

any ideas

The only other thing I can suggest is lowering that to 10240 (10MB)

If you have triple checked every possible area of the exchange server, then it can't be that.

Anything else between your mail server and the outside world?  Spam server?  Spam software on the exchange server??

it was not ignorance red, what i was doing is changing all the settings and restart the services then test and the results was nothing then i was rolling these changes back . and after reading the KB article i deside to rechange the the settings and left it for some reasons for about 20 hrs then when i try to test finally the results was as i need

anyway sorry for that
