blocking instant messengers

Hi All,
    How can I block Instant Messengers(Yahoo ,RediffBol) in my workgroup (WindowsXP).Im using a broadband connection.

it's a very difficult thing to block in a networking manner, i suggest you to deploy a local policy for them trying to stop them for running the application.
go to mmc, add group policy object editor snap in for local computer.
there you have to go to: User Configuration\Administrative Templates\System\
there you have this setting:"Don't run specified Windows application" you have to enable it and add the name of the application you want them not to run. for example: YahooMessenger.exe
