Unable to add data connection

I am trying to make a connection to northwind database file in sqlexpress using visual studio 2005. The connection when Tested responds Succesful. However, it is not able to add the connection and displays a message 'Unable to add data connection. Key not valid in specified state.'  Earlier I was able to set up a connection successfully. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
