IBM/Lenovo T60 Notebook - Symantec Antivirus Uninstall

I recently received a brand new IBM/Lenovo T60 Notebook, it came with Symantec Antivirus software preinstalled on it, I want to remove this software and replace it with a different version of Symantec, but I am having problems uninstalling the preinstalled software, in short it just wont uninstall, it gets to the final stages and then just hangs.

How can I uninstall this software successfully?

Many Thanks

Symantec can get complicated when you try to uninstall it.  If there is any instance of it running (which is almost always the case) it will freeze or stop.  Look in your Task Manager and end all instances of the application.  What is the actual application?  Let me know and I can send you a specific link to manually unistall it.

ASKER

its Symantec Client Security....
Ive just tried http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039 Norton Removal Tool Now....... and its still there...............
Here's a site I've used in the past to help remove Norton products:

http://basconotw.mvps.org/SymRem.htm
have you tried to remove the AV from safe mode?
Thanks for the response guys, I have tried all of the above, but the Symantec Client Install is still there.

I had to reinstall the OS to completely remove this Install, then download drivers and utilities software from the IBM website.

Thanks For Your Help.
