OS X Tips and Tricks
Hello
I've just purchased a macintosh laptop with an intel cpu.
I have used Macs in the past, but have never used OS X before and I wonder if anyone can direct me towards a link or article that would allow me to learn a bit more about tips & tricks etc. (i.e. to make it run faster, disable unnecessary services, keep it updated etc.)
Thanks.

And please take everything at macnn with a big lump of salt. Sometimes there's helpful info there, often it's little more than a nag-fest pile-on. Sorry, used to love it, now avoid it.
If you're just getting started with OS X, you might find this helpful as well:

meh ! wrote "macnn" but actually meant macintouch. Again, sometimes (macintouch) is reasonable but at times the "end of the world is nigh" user reports are simply not helpful.

Please be careful about blanket removal of cache files.
If you remove the cache files in /Library and /System/Library, you -must- reboot right away.
As well, you will get undesirable results when you remove the com.apple.LaunchServices* files. For example, you may lose some file-application assocations that have been established.
The current tip at http://www.macosxtips.co.uk/ is real fun, but also a good way to REALLY slow down a machine ;)
