Hi All,

I do not know much about newsgroups so please give detailed answers.

We are required to set up a newsgroup for our clients to use. We have looked at some options eg. google groups but these do not meet all of the requirements. We are considering hosting the newsgroup internally as this would allow for the greatest customisation, on this point:
- Is it possible given limited knowledge on the subject?
- Is it cost effective?
- What are some of the major considerations?
- Please provide any useful links for setting up, software products etc.

Thanks in advance
TB.

If this is for sharing ideas and documents within a company or with your clients you might want to consider using Microsoft's Sharepoint. Ideal for this purpose, it is more or less preconfigued, with numerous templates, and is easy to add on to and customize, as well as control the users permissions to make additions or changes. There are a couple of versions SharePoint Services which is free and for larger organizations or sites Sharepoint portal Server.
