Are these compatible? I know that there is vb 2005 express edition, however I would like to find out of potential issues.
Would there be any problem if your database is a sql server express edition and your development tool is the vb pro 2005 (not vb 2005 express edtion)?

what are the limitations as far as programming ? ADO.net,AsP.net-there would not be any issues I assume?

you will have the limits of the SQL Express edition, but as far as development is concerned, you should not hit those limits, at least you should know them all.
there is no limit in ado.net or asp.net to connect to the full blown or the limited edition of sql server 2005
