OMA Exchange 2003 (mobile devices)

I have restored a server and i am finding i have a problem with mapi32.dll..

I'm covering this in a nother q.

HOWEVER, I also have problems with my OMA users.

They are using orange exec's.. mobile 2005.
server is using exchange 2003 sp1 (SBS)

I appreciate this problem could relate to the above.. BUT everything else loads apart from when you load ESM

Can someone help m,e troubleshoot the OMA.. settings all seem to be there..

I am fortunate enough to have the original build on a VIRUTAL image on another machine ..

can someon please give me popinters to troubleshoot this..

when the pda synchronises it gives the following error and is reporting the last sync was last friday (just before the new server restore). I will post the error in a moment

i need this one fast (as always :) )

I do appreciate that my reinstalling it may fix the problem .. however I WONT get any settings back.... and i cannot do that till weekend anyway.. The client is hot on me at the mo though.

so any help would be appreciated.

Many Thanks

Romolo

This error code comes up very frequently.

May I suggest that you take a look at the the questions that come up on the first page of this search:
http://search.experts-exchange.com/search.jsp?query=0x85010014

It is either SSL, permissions or authentication settings.

PLEASE HELP

THANKS
Did you look at the search I posted above? Nothing you have posted is new, but repeating the steps to resolve the problem when they are already in the database is not a very good use of anyone's time.

Simon....

Of course i troubleshooted the error code... AS you can see theres loads on it... i.e. not a quick fix.. i am trying and working through...

Romolo
In the error message you posted above, there is only one line that is of interest:  (403) Forbidden.

The rest is just fluff.

Therefore you have to look at the permissions settings very carefully. The classic one is anonymous being set on the wrong directories - it should only be set on the /exchweb virtual directory, no others (/exchange, /oma, /Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync etc).

can someone please confirm what permissions should be set on the exchweb directory for OMA and OWA..

thanks in advance

When i tried to check on the microsoft-server-activesync for permissions

the folder is NOT there

c:\Program Files\exchsvr\oma\sync

. I have tried a reinstall the other day so i would have thought IF this was missing it would put it back.

How would I put this back

thanks

i have created the folder manually.

no diff.

i no longer error with map32.d.l anymore though

i have copied mapi32.dll from c:\prog~1\exchsvr\bin to c:\windows\system32

error has gone away... but OMA still does not work.

2003

can you confirm if http://oma.server.com/oma

is supposed to be blank when logged in. NOT inbox etc...

thanks

How do I recreate the OMA element of exchange.

Romolo
The only way is to reset the virtual folders.

ok ive done that but still

companyweb says access is denied and

/oma is completely blank

please help...

Romolo
For company web I cannot help - its SBS and I don't have much to do with that product.
If the folder reset didn't work then you are probably looking at a reinstall of Exchange and then the service pack. You may well get away with installing it on top of the existing installation. That could clean up the settings.

I have upgraded to exchange sp2... BUT

same problem..

arrghh... i need an answer

thanks

romolo
Your only answer might be to call Microsoft or call in another consultant with the specialist knowledge to repair the installation. Calling Microsoft might be the cheapest option as it is a fixed cost no matter how long it takes.

OK

I have installed SP2. and deleted VD's and recreated as per a microsoft step by step.

My

http://server/oma web logged in STILL shows blank ????

But the MD is getting his email. However he has said there has been some crashes today.... HOORAY!

IT IS Working..

however. OTHER existing users that have had no changes to the PDA's using same PDA..

When they sync they get 0x685010004 "You account does not hav permission to sync with your current settings. Contact your Microsoft Exchange administrator"

I have setup new users and this happens too

I have checked the AD and they DO HAVE all OMA features turned on... What else could it be

thanks to all that have helped ..... thus far

I Dont have a "DEVICE SECURITY" option in my "Mobile Services" in ESM.

Exchange 2003 SP2 ...

Many Thanks

Romolo
Are you using ESM on the server itself or from another machine? No device security would indicate that the ESM is not from SP2 or the server isn't SP2.
