Network Load Balancing

I have 2 HP BL20P servers, Teaming is disabled and I have 2 Nic's present.

After confuring the NLB in Unicast mode I get an error "Host Unreachable WEBHQPTA2" from the node WEBHQPTA1
What is wrong? Have I  misconfigured any settings?

Full internet Name for Cluster: webnlb.ndpp.local

Fisrt NIC (Public) settings for WEBHQPTA1 are as follows:

Dedicated IP: 10.1.1.68
NLB IP: 10.1.1.215
Subnet: 255.255.0.0
Gateway: 10.1.1.1

No DNS or Wins is defined

Second Nic(Management) settings for WEBHQPTA1 are as follows:

Dedicated IP: 10.1.1.70
Subnet: 255.255.0.0
No Gateway
DNS 10.1.1.2 and 3

My second node "WEBHQPTA2" settings are as follows:

Fisrt NIC (public):
Dedicated IP: 10.1.1.69
NLB IP: 10.1.1.215
Subnet: 255.255.0.0
Gateway: 10.1.1.1

No DNS or Wins is defined

Second Nic(Management) settings for WEBHQPTA2 are as follows:

Dedicated IP: 10.1.1.71
Subnet: 255.255.0.0
No Gateway

you need not configure DNS setting in management nics. Configure the dns setting in public and check.Management or private communication is used for NLB hearbeat messages. It is enough you have TCP is installed.
Microsoft site has step by step configuration for such requirements.

Thanks for the advice - I have removed all DNS entries from the managment NIC's and only have my IP addresses and subnets specified. The problem still occurs. I tested my configuration by setting the NLB with only one NIC in multicast mode and it works. It even works with teaming enabled on my NIC's.

Thanks - Charl
