File server problems

I have a user that periodically saves his work in a .zip file and writes it to his folder on the file server.  This will work for a couple of times until he gets an error message that states, "Error: File not found or no read/write permission or sharing problem."  I looked at the folder sharing properties, and everything there seems to be in order.  Once the user gets the message, he cannot write over the files on the file server until the next day.  Why does this happen and how can I fix the problem?

Thanks, Duane

If it is an access database he is zipping inthe file when he creates it, it could be locked and that could cause this, see:

ASKER

This is not an Access database.  He writes stuff in ProE and Word, Excel and Powerpoing, but not Access.
Do you have any applications that scan files on the network (virus scanner, etc...) it is possible when he attempts to retrieve the file some other application is accessing it at that moment and presenting an error.
also do you have any backup software running?
I am running network AV and backup software, let me look into that as well as another app accessing the file.
