Hi everyone,

I have problem accessing to my Group Policy Object and encountered error

"Failed to open Group Policy Object. You may not have appropriate rights"

"Details : The network path was not found"

I have tried many solutions found in the forum but it does not solve my problem. I could not open my Domain Controller Security Policy. I open the group policy from my Active Directory Users and Computers and I can see the default policy still there but I can't edit the policy. I also found out that the Sysvol folder is empty with only the domain folder found in the downlevel of the folder. The policies and scripts folders are all missing.  I am wondering if I recreate the policies and scripts, will it solve my problem and can I do this?

PLease help. Thanks

Will there be any risk running this method? I am afraid of the outcome.

Cheers

Yes, there certainly are risks.  You should definitely back up all your DCs, including the System State, before attempting it.

A better solution would be to do an authoritative restore of the System State from before the problem started, but it sounds like you weren't able to do that.
