Unable to run NTBackup on Information Store

I have a Windows 2000 server running Exchange 2000. I was testing out an automated NTBackup of the Information Store to make sure it worked properly, and halted it before it completed. Now when I try to run the backup job on the Information Store, it stops with an error. I get the following events in the application log:
Information Store (3580) 5bb12c81-e362-4968-9377-0708dee9cd3f: The backup has stopped with error -521.
The 'Microsoft Information Store' returned 'The backup call is out of sequence.
' from a call to 'HrESEBackupOpenFile()' additional data 'D:\Exdb\priv1.edb'
End Backup of 'XXXXXXX\Microsoft Information Store\First Storage Group' Verify: Off Mode: Replace Type: Normal
The 'Microsoft Information Store' returned 'There is no backup in progress.

Any ideas on what I should try? The last good backup is a few days old at this point...
