Cannot enable 5.1 playback for stero sources (itunes etc) - Audigy 4

So when I first got this card, when I played music thru itunes it would play through all 6 speakers (I have a kilpsch ultra 5.1 setup).

I had to reformat so I download the drivers from Creative's website (which didn't include all the programs the orig disc did) and since then when I play music it only plays thru the front two speakers and the sub. when I play a dvd it uses all 6 speakers as it should.

I uninstalled the drivers, used my origional install disc and resintalled all drivers and applications.  Now no matter what setting I have enabled, I cannot hear my mp3s on the rear two sepakers.

My Current Settings:

Creative speaker settings - Speaker Selection - 5.1 Speakers
EAX - CMSS 3D tab - I have the "Enable CMSS 3D" box checked, and the current CMSS option (out of 3)
is CMSS (Classic 3D upmix effect....).  I have tried all three settings and none of them allow me to
hear I have tried all three settings and none of them allow me to hear music thru the rear two speakers.

I'm running Windows XP if that matters, and I'm using the standard Audigy 4 card (w/remote...which currently doesn't work  )

Thanks for any ideas.

Make sure you've installed XP service pack 2 and that you have run Windows Update.
It's quite possible you had an MS fix or patch installed before that has not been reinstalled after your reformat.
