Music rights

My Flash animation loops 30 seconds of music I took from the middle of a Naxos classical album containing a Salieri flute concerto.  The animation will be used to help sell a product.  Has anyone had some legal experience with this situation?

i would suggest speakin to local solictor in your area.  as far as i know, the artist will remain copyright holder regardless of whether you bought it or not.  if i was going 2 use music in any application i develop, i'd make it very clear that the all music tracks etc are copyright of their repected owner...  if you get my drift ;-)

First you must pay if you want to use a song/sample and you have to pay to the owner, in this case Naxos.

Once used 2 samples but they were not for commercial use.

Naxos Quote:

Quick turnaround - we own all our recordings, so there are no cumbersome clearance procedures

Thanks for all the info, guys.  And ch2, I will definitely get in touch with Naxos and post back what the rates are.
