socket prog in java

I am trying to learn socket prog in java. I was trying these for simple web proxy, but it did not work, any idea where would be the problem:

http://members.lycos.co.uk/mylittleme/java/HttpResponse.htm

compile: javac -deprecation *.java

Also any good helpful links to java sockets with examples would be helpful.

what do you need to know, this was just an exercise and was trying to solve it. was looking here at this site with some examples:

with a link to this exercises that I was trying to solve.
