I have done so much research on SSL and hosting and shared SSL that my head is spinning. I believe I have come down to this.
My site is hosted on Crystal Tech which uses a IIS server. I am using PHP and having all kinds of PHP include and session variable problems using crystaltech's shared ssl. I believe I can most easily resolve this by having my own certificate. I DO NOT understand the process starting with asking for a CA and then getting a certificate from GODADDY and then asking Crystaltech to install. Can someone please break this down for me so I understand the process, the costs and the benefits.

Thank you!

Actually if you owned your own server I could explain easily.  But when a host is involved, you need them to do this.

The certificate request must be generated from the server which hosts your site.

So usually you pay the host for the certificate.  As this requires dedicated IP addresses, often your hosting prices will go up as well.  What you want is called a dedicated certificate as opposed to a shared certificate.

Look at this page at the bottom for crystal tech:

I think I answered this in general as well as providing a link to the specifics for the host mentioned.
