With no new hardware added for over a year, I can't remember a single time I had a blue screen and it's coming back to haunt me.

Seemingly out of nowhere I am starting to get the dreaded IRQL NOT LESS THAN OR EQUAL crash. It happens at random times, it could be right after I log in to windows, it could go two days and I'll wake up to a blue screen that happened overnight while nothing was running except Outlook, Trillian and Firefox.

So I disabled every non-microsoft service and disabled all startup items except NOD32 and Symantec Ghost (now that I think about it, I should try disabling those, too). Didn't help. I then disabled all non-essential hardware like cd/dvd drives, network, sound card and a few other devices.

It has not blue screened on me once while in Safe Mode with Networking.

Next thing I thought of...bad ram. I ran memtest overnight...got 12 passes on my 2gb of ram and not a single error.

Every now and then the stop error points to nvatabus.sys. Since my Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe motherboard uses the nvidia chipset and I'm running sata drives in raid as well as ide drives, I started updating nvidia drivers. I updated my chipset drivers and video card drivers from nvidias website and had the same problem. So then I went back to the Asus website and got the drivers from them, this also didn't help. So now I'm left with trying to analyze the memory dumps. I was hoping someone could look at this and make a suggestion?

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (a)
An attempt was made to access a pageable (or completely invalid) address at an
interrupt request level (IRQL) that is too high.  This is usually
caused by drivers using improper addresses.
If a kernel debugger is available get the stack backtrace.
Arguments:
Arg1: a6077000, memory referenced
Arg2: 00000002, IRQL
Arg3: 00000001, value 0 = read operation, 1 = write operation
Arg4: 806ecaa2, address which referenced memory

Hi,

It is the software problem of nVidia Video driver.  Refer the following problem.

No, I don't believe it's the video card driver. I've already tried installing the latest version, and then tried installing the version on the asus website and my system was still unstable. Under suspicion that it was my ide drivers (nvatabus.sys?) I disabled my ide controller and haven't had a blue screen in a 4 days. That's, by far, the longest I've gone with a stable system. And I'm still using the original nvidia video drivers.

Hi,

You are right, nvatabus.sys is the nVidia On-Board Driver and not the video driver.
