Hello all,
I remember years ago there were programs that would convert an exe file to the source code it was written in.
Does anybody know of a program out there that would convert compiled apps (exe files) built under Dbase IV to there original prg state.
We need to make some modification to the code; the code has been lost for over 3 years.
This is a nonprofit that I'm volunteering for that has some important apps written in dbase, but mysteriously they lost the source code a few years ago.  If anybody would know where or how to create prg file from exe files. The person who wrote these apps over fifteen years ago is no where to be found. Thank YOU!!!!

Since I'm into another flavor of xBASE coding, I have had to decompile an older FoxPro exe about six years ago.  I had access to ReFox which decompiled it all.  I see at a retailer of ReFox that it also handles dBASE dbo files.  Since I've been away from dBASE for a long time, I'm not sure how that applies to the .exe file you say you have to decompile.

Regardless, here is the retailer link:

ReFox XI
http://hallogram.com/refox/

which says:

ReFox XI has the following new features ....
decompilation of .DBO files available for some versions of dBASE (no full guarantee for all versions of dBASE)

You may have better luck contacting the author of this decompiler and ask him directly if his decompiler does really support what you want to do.

Contact author at info@refox.net

Author's site:

There seems to be some kind of demo available.  I have no idea how far it goes.

Good luck.

You're welcome.

I know how frustrating it can be to have no source code to work with.  Good luck.
