question about how an animation was created?

I am a developer, and i'm trying to teach myself flash animation. I am really interested in learning how the animation in the below sites were createded. I went to kirupa.com and www.flashkit.com, and created some flash movies from the examples they provided, but i'm still having trouble figuring out how the below sites were animated. I see lots of motion and shape tweening, masking, and some awesome use of timing. However, i'm sure there is more than that going on under the hood. Is the below animation done with special effects, action script, and Video Editing? Perhaps you all know of other advanced tutorials that teach you how to create effects like the below sites.

video editing :)

some 3D work and finished with "  Adobe after effect " or some program like it

this anaimation is VIDEO but not normal vedio  ...... part of it made with a 3D program "3D MAX or MAYA" and the other is normal vedio ..... all videos compiled with a program like " Adobe After Effect "  .. ... its a program used for finishing video work like the animation u see .... there r other programs like it but its the best one as i think
